Equipment

You can do everythung by yourself

Pre-prepared tools are an important part of the work. After all, if in the process of work it turns out that some tools are missed, then a half of the work turns to be done in vain.

You should have protective equipment from the very beginning of work - it should be unbroken and clean - that's what needs to be prepared first:

Gloves

In order to avoid the ingress of dust and paint into the gloves they must fit your arm and your wrist.

Overalls

A waterproof jumpsuit is the best to wear when painting a car. The overalls should fit your stature and have cuffs adjoining to wrists and ankles. It is obligatory to have a hood.

Respirator

You can choose either full or half respiratory mask, but the mask should fit snugly to the face. The fastening straps should be adjustable in length, be soft and elastic, and the mask itself should be light. If you use disposable filters, be sure to use the new ones and replace them regularly.

Washer

Start the car painting job with cleaning. Thoroughly wash the car by hand or with the help of pressure washer, in order to clean it from dust, dirt and rust. If you wash the car on the street, then make sure that there is no tree above the cat, because leaves, twigs and dust can fall down.

Dust collector

The absence of dust is a very important requirement for a car painting room. If the paint is not yet dried up, the surface will remain uneven. Small irregularities can be corrected by grinding, but it is better to avoid doing extra work, especially if it is only necessary to install the dust collector in the room.

Primer

For a small car, it is enough to take about 4 liters of primer, and for larger cars you need to prepare about 6-7 liters of primer. The primer is used to prepare the car for painting. Dilute and apply primer in accordance with the instructions on the packaging.

Automotive spray paint

To paint the car you need to use a special car paint, which can be purchased at any store. Be sure to calculate the correct amount of paint. If you do not know what amount of paint is needed, the assistant will help you with the calculations. For a small car, it is usually needed about 12-15 liters of paint, and for a larger car, 16-18 liters are needed. Below we present a table with dimensions that will help you to calculate the amount of paint needed. If you want to paint the car in the same color as it was painted in the factory, find out the manufacturer's color code for the color to match.

Self-adhesive tape

Choose an inexpensive but tightly fitting tape that does not leave traces of glue

Spray paint gun

In order to apply paint on the car, you must use spray paint gun, which works for a long time. Usually a gun with an air compressor is used. It is best to choose an oil-free compressor, in order to avoid oil ingress into the paint.

Sandpaper

In order to remove all excess primer you need to use sandpaper - about 2 thousand grid.

Buffer

The buffer is used at the very end of the painting process and gives a finishing gloss to the paint. Use a quality buffer, so that the result would look really professional.

Diluent

The diluent is required for the dilution of the primer and paint, so it is necessary to choose a diluent that can be used with both the primer and the paint.

Transparent finish coating - varnish

The varnish is used at the very end of the painting in order for the car to have a glossed appearance, however, before applying it, you need to be sure that it is compatible with the paint. For large cars you need about 10-15 liters, and for small cars - about 8-10 liters of varnish is needed.
